AITP Washington, DC, Chapter: Monthly Dinner Meeting Thursday, November 13, 2008 "High-Performance Computing" Speaker: Dr. Jesse Bemley What really is high-performance computing? Is it hardware? Software? A type of applications? Speed? Power? If you're as puzzled as we are, then you'll want to attend this meeting. Our presenter this month is Dr. Jesse Bemley, a leader in the Washington DC Area science and engineering community who has used his vast knowledge, skills and personal contacts to improve the lives of youth in Washington DC. As the president and founder of the nonprofit community based K-12 program, Joint Education Facilities, Inc. ( JEF) Dr. Bemley has assissted more than 400 students in pursing undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering, math, computer science, and advanced mathematics. Dr. Bemley grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He received a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Mississippi Valley State University, a Master of Science in Computer Science from American University, and a Ph.D in Public Administration from Pacific Western University.
