When/where are the monthly Program Meetings?
Calvin, this fiscal year (2008), the Chapter held program meetings in the District of Columbia (ASAE Conference Center) and Prince George's County (Prince George's Community College.)
The Chapter also co-hosted special events at Baltimore's Convention Center (Black Engineer of The Year Awards), Bowie State University (Regional HSCC and IT Showcase), and our last Chapter event of the 2008 season occured Wednesday, November 12th at the Washington Navy Yard Conference Center--our HSCC Awards Banquet and 30th Anniversary celebration.
Next year will not be that much different. The Smithsonian Institute likely will host our Chapter's Program Meetings held the District; Prince George's Community College and Bowie State University likely will continue the tradition into next year as well. The Chapter's 2009 calendar of events is pending final approvals, sponsors, and agreements.
For 2009, please download your current issue (November 2008) of bdpatoday, to review the next administration's Technology Plan which BDPA-DC will use as a guide.
In FY-09, the Chapter will increase its proposal responses and grant writing for 501(c)(3) community-based STEM opportunities, and increase student membership rolls three-fold. Next year, the Chapter also will recruit new leadership teams, committee chairs, bloggers, writers, and install Maryland Chapter Interest Groups (CIGs) in Charles, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties.
Calvin, encourgage your friends, neighbors, and fellow supporters to stay involved with local BDPA Chapters, embrace new technology and emerging high-tech communities, and continue to make sound investments in tomorrow's workforce.
